Seed Processing
In our seed plant, we produce our quality seeds with the most modern cleaning and sorting equipment. Our seed plant technology is perfectly suitable for sorting raw seed materials according to size, shape, length, specific weight, rolling properties, and even shape and colour. The cleaning is carried out on two independent cleaning lines with Cimbria Delta 107 type screens, HSR 5010 and HSR 16020 type triers, and GA 200 type gravity tables.
If necessary, after cleaning, we can also remove special impurities with our Cimbria Sea Chromex 3+1 channel optical sorter equipped with infrared and InGas cameras.
After processing, the seed is treated on our high-performance treating machines - a Cimbria CC150 batch treater and a Niklas type continuous treating machine - in accordance with the highest quality requirements.
Small bagged seed lots are packaged on our Premier Tech-Chronos OML1080 and CPL600 type automatic packaging and palletizing line and on a semi-automatic packaging machine. We are planning to install a high-performance Concetti semi-automatic big-bag filling line for the packaging of big-bag seed lots in May 2023.
Depending on the free capacity of our seed plant, we are also providing seed plant services (cleaning, treatment, packaging and certification) outside from Saaten-Union.
Seed Laboratory
In our laboratory, we constantly check the quality of the seeds that arrive at our seed plant and are processed here during the processing, from receipt to certification. Our laboratory is staffed by NÉBIH-trained colleagues who constantly check the quality of raw materials and finished products and monitor each stage of the processing. The following parameters of the seeds are most often tested: moisture content, physical purity, germination and sizing. Our registration system ensures the identification and traceability of individual seed lots.
Field seed production
Our seed production program covers approximately 1,100 to 1,300 hectares. Among the crops produced, the most important - depending on the year - are hybrid cereal seeds, including hybrid wheat with a production area of 200 - 240 ha and hybrid rye with 150 ha, traditional cereal species - mainly winter wheat and winter barley - 150 ha, as well as corn 230 ha, sunflower 150-200 ha and soybean 350-500 ha with field seed production area. In addition to the mentioned species, we also produce seeds of peas, spring barley, spring oats and catch crops as needed. The customer's needs greatly influence the composition and size of our seed production program. From sowing to harvesting, our colleagues continuously inspect the seed-producing areas and advising our seed producing farmers, paying great attention to ensure that high-quality raw seed material from the field is sent to our plant for further processing.
